My A2 Art project is based around
the theme of colour and emotion. Meaning how wearing a bright or dull colour
can effect a persons mood. I developed my project by experimenting with colour
in both the wax crayon piece above and the felt samples I made. These were done
by mixing wool on a felting paddle to create
the desired colours. All of these experimental pieces have helped my
project to transform into a final piece.
My final piece is a skirt suit made out of mismatched ties. This is
representative of my whole theme of colours and emotions, also the fact that ties are seen as a formal item of
clothing, being transformed into something more fun and thought provoking. The skirt, so far, is made up of 30 ties, all
hand stitched together (totalling to about 50 hours work!) to create a
character filled piece of artwork, as well as
a fully functional garment. Along the back of the skirt there are
buttons with a lace panel to add detail. The skirt is still in the making
process although it is nearly finished
with just the waistband and buttonhole loops to complete. The other garments in
my final piece will consist of a suit jacket made in a similar way, but on a
machine this time and a shirt made out of a variety of parts of different
shirts, again following the theme of emotions and colour effects on different
people. This project is still underway but will hopefully be complete by
February so I can then move onto my final A2 project.
